Why Choose a Light Wooden Bed?
There are many reasons to love a light wooden bed, such as:
A bright design: For bedrooms that receive a lot of natural light, a light wooden bed is a great choice. Compared to darker shades, these bed frames help bedrooms appear much larger, granting a sense of freedom.
Quality craftsmanship: All of our beds, including our light wooden finishes, are hand built in our UK facility. We use only the highest quality, sustainable pine and oak available, with tried-and-tested techniques such as mortise and tenon joints.
Practical benefits: On a more practical side, light wooden beds also allow for imperfections such as scratches to be less prominent compared to darker alternatives. If you’re prone to hustle and bustle, or simply aren’t down for cleaning very often, a light wooden bed might be a good option.
Light Wooden Bed Materials
Across our entire wooden bed range, we offer two materials to choose from.
Oak Wooden Beds: Oak is a hardwood with a reputation for durability. Due to its slow growing process, the wood itself is much more densely packed and, therefore, stronger compared to softwoods.
Pine Wooden Beds: Although pine is softer than oak, we only use the highest quality pine we can find. Sourced from sustainable angles, you can rest assured that your bed isn’t just durable, it’s also good for the planet.
Light Wooden Bed Styles
You can find a light coloured option across our extensive range of wooden bed styles. From classic designs such as four poster beds, to modern looking low beds.
Standard Height Beds: Designed for easy access for most sleepers, our standard height beds have a footboard height of 40 cm.
Low Wooden Beds: With their low, close-to-the-floor design, our low wooden beds are great for shorter users, while also offering a unique appearance.
Platform Beds: Platform beds offer a sturdy, full-length base beneath the mattress, providing exceptional comfort and support.
Beds With Headboards: Not just for aesthetics, our beds with headboards offer protection to the walls surrounding your bed, while helping keep pillows in place.
Ottoman Storage Beds: With a lifting base powered by gas struts, ottoman beds provide a large storage compartment for your bedroom essentials.
Oak Bed Frames: Made from durable oak materials and tried-and-tested building techniques, our oak collection offers a long-lasting bed frame that lasts for years.
Four Poster Beds: Four-poster beds are one of the oldest designs available, which we have modernised.
Live Edge Bed Frames: Designed with the natural curves and grain of the wood we use, our live edge beds offer a truly unique appearance. Each one is one of a kind.

Maintaining Your Light Wooden Bed
While light beds hide scratches and imperfections better than their dark counterparts, they can stain easier from spills and scuffs. As such, it’s important to take good care of your new bed frame right from the very first night of use. Thankfully, our protective lacquer does a good job of defending against most imperfections, doing most of the hard work for you.
Other Stain Options
If light isn’t quite to your liking, don’t worry. There’s plenty of other stains available in our range for you to choose from:
Unfinished Wooden Beds: For fans of classic wood appearances, we even offer a finish with no stain or lacquer applied.
White Wooden Beds: Go one step further than light with a completely white finish. Perfect for scandi or minimalist spaces.
Medium Wooden Beds: As a step up from light, our medium stain turns the depth up slightly for a warm, inviting appearance.
Walnut Wooden Beds: Get all the aesthetic benefits of walnut without the high price tag thanks to our walnut stain.
Black Wooden Beds: Go bold with a striking, black wooden bed. Great for making a statement in the bedroom.
As well as these, we also offer a premium selection of finished thanks to Rubio Monocoat. These offer a slightly different aesthetic, as well as more robust protection. See our entire Premium Rubio Monocoat Finish selection, here.

FAQ's
What is a Light Wooden Bed?
A light wooden bed is a type of bed frame that’s made from either solid oak or pine, designed to have a pale, natural finish. These styles don’t mask the underlying wood grain, rather, they enhance it by applying a protective top layer to help it stand out and last forever.
Why Choose a Light Wooden Bed?
Light wooden beds, thanks to their bright colour, help achieve a greater sense of space regardless of the room they’re placed in. For this reason, they make frequent appearance in contemporary design schemes including Scandinavian, or even minimalist aesthetics.
Do Light Wooden Beds Suit Small Bedrooms?
Light tones reflect more light. This makes small spaces feel much larger in comparison to darker tones, which makes light wooden beds a great fit for small bedrooms.
What Styles of Light Wooden Beds Are Available?
We’ve got a vast array of bed styles and designs in our light coloured selection. From platform beds to ottoman storage beds, there’s an option for everyone, with us.
Will the Light Finish Hide the Natural Grain?
Light wooden beds are designed to preserve the natural grain and style of the wood used to construct the frame. With a protective, clear topcoat, this finish is kept intact for years to come.
How Do I Keep a Light Wooden Bed Clean?
With the protective lacquer, a lot of the ongoing maintenance of your light wooden bed simply revolves around wiping it down occasionally. The wood itself is already protected, so it’s simply a case of mopping up any accidental spills and buffing out any scuffs as and when they appear.
Will Light Wood Beds Go Yellow Over Time?
The high quality stain and lacquer used on our light wooden beds are UV resistant, meaning that they are less prone to ‘yellowing’ over time.
