Space-Conscious Bed Frames
Small double beds are a unique piece of furniture. Larger than a standard single but smaller than a regular double, small double beds strike the perfect balance of size and space efficiency.
Whether it’s upgrading your child’s first bed or offering guests a more lavish place to stay, a small double bed fits many uses, making it an exceptionally useful size choice. We offer a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from, from storage-focused ottoman beds to lavish, four poster beds, you’ll be sure to find the perfect companion with us.
Why Choose a Small Double Bed?
Small double beds are a popular option in our range, and for many reasons:
Space Saving: Although a small double is larger than a single, they are slightly narrower than a standard double. This enables them to be used in much smaller, compact settings, such as children’s bedrooms or smaller guest rooms.
Versatile: While a single bed is almost exclusively targeted towards solo sleepers, it is possible for two sleepers to use a small double. This makes them incredibly versatile and able to be used in many situations.
Style Variety: Although smaller than a standard double, we offer small double variants of most bed frames within our range, allowing you to customise your bed frame to your exact needs.
Small Double Bed Dimensions
Small double beds add 30 cm of width over a single bed, but keep the same length measurement of 190 cm. Altogether, a small double bed measures 120 x 190cm (4’0” x 6’3”), making it 15 cm narrower than a standard double.
If you need something slightly smaller or even a bit bigger, we offer many other bed frames in our collection across most UK sizes, such as:
- Single – 90 x 190cm (3’0” x 6’3”)
- Double – 135 x 190cm (4’6” x 6’3”)
- King – 150 x 200cm (5’0” x 6’6”)
- Super King – 180 x 200cm (6’0” x 6’6”)
- Emperor – 215 x 215cm (7’0” x 7’0”)
Small Double Bed Styles
Our small double bed range is offered across every single bed style we offer. Need something storage-focused? An ottoman bed will be perfect. However, for a more classic, traditional bed, a four poster, with its unmatched grandeur, makes for a great fit.
Standard Height Beds: With a footboard height of 40 cm, our standard height selection is designed to be accessible and comfortable for most sleepers.
Low Wooden Beds: Being low to the ground, a low wooden bed is not only better suited to those with mobility issues, but makes for a more unique visual style, too.
Platform Beds: Offering a large base, a platform bed provides unrivalled support to the mattress and, therefore, you, while resting.
Beds With Headboards: A bed with a headboard is both practical and stylish. Headboards prevent damage to your walls while also keeping pillows in place.
Ottoman Storage Beds: If your bedroom is cluttered, an ottoman storage bed is the answer. With their gas-powered lifting bases, these beds offer more than enough space to keep your essentials out of the way.
Oak Bed Frames: Every bed in our collection can be bought in an oak finish, which we pair with tried and tested carpentry methods to construct a solid, durable bed frame that lasts for years.
Four Poster Beds: With a design stretching back to the 16th Century, we offer a modernised take on the classic four poster bed.
Live Edge Bed Frames: Truly unique, our live edge beds follow the natural finish of the wood they’re made from, meaning each one is bespoke.
Small Double Bed Finishes
No matter what your interior design language is, we’ve got a bed frame finish to suit. Paired with a protective lacquer, not only will your bed look great, but it’ll last, too.
Unfinished Wooden Beds: If you like the look of natural oak or pine or would like to dd your own finsish, we can supply your bed in its raw material, with no lacquer.
White Wooden Beds: Is natural too dark? If so, our clear white stain adds a vibrant, matte finish to your bed frame - a great choice for contemporary rooms.
Light Wooden Beds: To protect the bed frame’s grain and patterns, we can apply a clear, water-based lacquer that showcases the natural finish, while adding protection.
Medium Wooden Beds: Our medium stain enhances the appearance of your wooden frame, adding a touch of warmth to your room.
Walnut Wooden Beds: As the second darkest finish we offer, a walnut frame oozes class and character, no matter the frame.
Black Wooden Beds: For a bold look, nothing beats a black stain. We use our darkest stain available to create a striking bed frame that makes a statement.
In addition to these standard finishes, we also offer a range of Rubio Monocoat shades across our oak frames. Find out more about our premium finishes here: Premium Rubio Monocoat Finishes.

Who Are Small Double Beds Best Suited For?

Do Small Double Wooden Beds Come With Storage?

If you still can't find a finish that suits, we offer our bed frames with an unfinished option, allowing you to finish your bed, your way.
