How Much Bigger Is a Super King?

The difference between king and super king is all in the width. A standard king size bed measures 150 x 200cm, while a super king measures 180 x 200cm. Both have the same 200cm length, but moving up to super king gives you another 30cm across the mattress. For two people sharing, that works out at around 90cm of mattress width per person, equivalent to the width of a standard single mattress.

Does Your Bedroom Have Room for a Super King?

With a wooden bed this size, measuring the room properly becomes particularly important. Don't base your decision on the 180 x 200cm mattress dimensions alone. The complete wooden frame will be larger, with the exact footprint depending on whether you choose a simple platform design, a headboard, four poster or another style.

Before ordering, check how the bed will sit alongside wardrobes, bedside furniture, radiators and doors. It's also worth thinking about how drawers and cupboard doors open and how much space you'll have to move around the finished bed.

You don't necessarily need an enormous bedroom for a super king, but the frame should feel like it belongs in the space rather than leaving everything else squeezed around it.
