Oak vs Pine

Oak and pine are often compared in the furniture space, and for good reason. Oak is often regarded as the more durable of the two, mainly due to it being a hardwood that takes much longer to grow. Pine, on the other hand, is a softwood. 

Between the two, pine is a slightly more workable material that’s easier to shape and cut, but does have poorer durability in comparison to oak. Oak is also a much heavier material than pine, which, in a bed frame, accounts for a more sturdy construction.
